Who Is Behind GB Pigeon Auctions?

My name is John Short, and I've been involved in the racing pigeon world for around 35 years. During that time, I raced successfully in both the former Scottish Midland Federation and, more recently, the Lanarkshire Federation.

In 2018, business commitments meant I had to step away from racing. However, my passion for the sport remained, so I established Performance Pigeons UK, a specialist breeding operation that went on to produce numerous winners for customers across the country, right up to National level.

After selling my main business in 2024, I had to give up the premises where my pigeons were bred, which unfortunately meant closing the breeding operation.

Since then, I've revived Performance Pigeons UK, bringing together outstanding bloodlines, and have now taken the next step by launching GB Pigeon Auctions.

Why GB Pigeon Auctions?

Quite simply, I wanted another way to stay actively involved in the sport I've enjoyed for so many years, while providing fellow fanciers with an affordable and straightforward platform to buy and sell racing pigeons.

I believe auction commission rates should be fair and reasonable. That's why GB Pigeon Auctions charges just 12.5% commission when you manage your own listings, or 17.5% if you'd prefer us to manage your lots for you.

We also operate a No Sale, No Fee policy, meaning you only pay commission when your bird sells.

Buying and Selling Made Easy

Getting started couldn't be simpler. Just register for an account, visit your dashboard and start adding your pigeons for auction. Minimum starting bids are £50.
